In this course, students will delve into the art and craft of video editing. Designed for both beginners and intermediate learners, this course offers a comprehensive overview of essential video editing techniques. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, students will learn how to tell compelling visual stories, use professional editing software, and create polished final products. The course covers everything from basic video editing principles to advanced tools and techniques, ensuring students are equipped to tackle various video projects confidently.

Introduction to Video Editing Tools:
- Overview of popular video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
- Understanding timelines, keyframes, and basic editing tools.
Editing Techniques & Styles:
- Jump cuts, transitions, and effects.
- Color correction and grading basics.
- Sound editing and integration of music.
Storytelling Through Editing:
- Crafting a narrative through visual sequences.
- Pacing, rhythm, and flow in edits.
Advanced Techniques:
- Multi-camera editing.
- Chroma key (green screen) techniques.
- Motion graphics and visual effects.
Exporting & Finalizing Projects:
- Export settings for different platforms (YouTube, social media, etc.).
- Compression, codecs, and resolutions.

Practical Assignments:
- Short Film Editing: Students will edit a pre-recorded short film using professional software.
- Montage Creation: Create a montage using found footage, applying storytelling techniques.
- Music Video Project: Sync audio and video to produce a visually compelling music video.
Peer Reviews: Students will review and provide feedback on each other’s projects, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Final Project:
- Portfolio Piece: Each student will create a final edited project (e.g., documentary, commercial, or film trailer), applying all the learned techniques. This project will serve as a portfolio piece.

By the end of the course, students will:

Master video editing software and tools, including essential features like cutting, trimming, and splicing.
Understand advanced editing techniques such as multi-camera editing, color correction, and motion graphics.
Apply storytelling principles to video editing, ensuring coherence and impact in their edits.
Produce high-quality video projects suitable for professional portfolios or online distribution.
Export video projects for various platforms with optimal settings for resolution, compression, and formats.

Morning Students – Monday to Thursday, 09:00 am – 03:00 pm
Afternoon Students – Monday to Thursday, 03:30 pm – 08:00 pm
Teaching Method: Online & Offline / Online only (eg. Google meet video call)
Course Duration: 3 sessions (9 months)
Session Length: 1 session = 3 months
DWTA Qualification: Academic Diploma
CTVET’s National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF): Higher National Diploma

- Ghc 2600 per session or
- Ghc 900 per month

Slow-Paced & Relaxed Learning Option

Weekend Evening Students – Friday to Sunday, 06:00 pm – 08:00 pm
